A plain guide to the four colour seasons for Indian skin, with palettes, brand examples and how to find yours from one selfie.

A colour season is a short way to say which colours work for you. There are four: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Each one is a mix of undertone (warm or cool) and clarity (clear or muted). Every season exists on Indian skin, and no season is better than another. This guide explains all four and how to find yours.
Think of two questions. Is your undertone warm or cool? Do you look best in clear, bright colour or soft, blended colour? The answers give you your season. Use the list below as a map.
Undertone is the quiet colour under your skin. It is not the same as how light or dark you are. Start with undertone, because it splits the four seasons into two halves: warm (spring and autumn) and cool (summer and winter). Do the three tests below in daylight, near a window, with no filter and no coloured light. Then trust the answer that shows up twice.
Each season shows up on fair, wheatish and dusky skin in a different way. Spring looks golden and fresh. Summer looks soft and rosy. Autumn looks rich and earthy. Winter looks crisp and high in contrast. Most people sit between two seasons, which is why a good analysis gives you a main season and a depth, such as light, true, soft, bright or deep.
Here are four outfits, one per season, with brands you can buy in India. Prices are rough rupee ranges.
Budget 3,500 to 6,500
Warm, clear colour that looks fresh and sunny.
Budget 4,500 to 7,500
Cool, soft colour that looks calm.
Budget 4,500 to 8,000
Warm, muted colour that looks rich.
Budget 5,500 to 9,500
Cool, clear colour that looks sharp.
A professional draping session holds fabric under your chin and checks how your face responds. A good selfie analysis uses the same idea: it looks at your skin, eyes and hair in daylight and compares them to the four palettes. The result also shows how confident it is. If your photo had poor light, a good tool says "retake in daylight" instead of guessing.
There is no reliable count. All four seasons exist across Indian skin tones, so test instead of assuming.
Many people sit between two. A good result names a main season and a depth, such as soft or deep, and some colours overlap.
Hair and skin change over time, so recheck every few years. Your undertone usually stays stable.
Yes. Your photo is read once and deleted, and the result page does not show it.
