Eid outfit ideas for women

Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha outfits for women: sharara, anarkali, abaya and fusion looks at three budgets, with brands, prices and jewellery notes.

Updated 10 Oct 2026

Eid is a day of family, food and photos. The outfit has to feel special and stay comfortable through long meals and many visits. Here are looks at three budgets, with modest and glam options, plus ideas for the prayer and the evening.

Three parts of the day

Morning prayer wants modest, simple colour. Think a long kurta or abaya in white, cream, pastel or soft green. The family lunch wants an outfit you can sit in all afternoon. Evening visits can be more dressed up. A sharara, a gharara or a long anarkali with embroidery suits these. Many women plan one new set per day and change the dupatta.

  • Morning: long kurta or abaya in a pastel, with a matching dupatta.
  • Lunch: comfortable cotton or crepe set, with room to sit.
  • Evening: sharara or anarkali in rich colour.
  • Carry an extra dupatta. It changes the look in a minute.

Outfit formulas

Modest and festive, each with shoes and one accessory.

Prayer morning, easy

  • Cotton long kurta set in mint or cream, about ₹1,600 (Libas or Biba sale)
  • Large dupatta, included
  • Footwear: flat embroidered sandals, about ₹700
  • Accessory: pearl studs, about ₹300

Budget under ₹2,000

Simple and modest, and still festive in a pastel.

Lunch with family

  • Embroidered straight kurta with palazzo, about ₹3,000 (W or Biba)
  • Net dupatta with a lace edge, about ₹700
  • Footwear: juttis, about ₹1,200
  • Accessory: jhumkas, about ₹800

Budget ₹2,000 to ₹6,000

Straight lines look refined, and the palazzo lets you sit on the floor.

Evening sharara

  • Sharara set in rose or teal with zari trim, about ₹5,500 (Libas, Global Desi, Ajio)
  • Dupatta, included
  • Footwear: block heels, about ₹1,800
  • Accessory: statement earrings, about ₹1,000

Budget ₹2,000 to ₹6,000

A sharara gives you movement and a long leg line.

Gharara, special

  • Embroidered gharara in ivory or emerald, about ₹9,500 (Global Desi, Biba premium)
  • Matching dupatta, included
  • Footwear: embellished heels, about ₹2,500
  • Accessory: polki or kundan set, about ₹3,500 (Nykaa Fashion)

Budget ₹6,000 to ₹15,000

The gharara is the most traditional Eid evening look for many families.

Colour and silhouette for the whole day

Eid colours are soft by day and rich by evening. Hold a dupatta near your face to check. Warm skin tones look lovely in peach, gold, olive and rust. Cool skin tones suit lavender, mint, rose and sapphire. A long, straight silhouette feels calm and elegant. A flared sharara adds movement. A trapeze kurta with a pant is comfortable for a long lunch. If you want to look taller, choose a single colour from neckline to hem. If you want to add shape at the waist, a thin belt or a seamed waist does it with no pressure. Keep embroidery at the neckline and cuffs, and the rest quieter.

  • Choose one embellished area and keep the rest plain.
  • Match the dupatta to the kurta, not the bottom, for a clean line.
  • Carry a second dupatta in a contrast colour.
  • Test comfort by sitting down in the outfit before you buy.

Abaya and modest fusion

An abaya in a soft colour with embroidered cuffs can be festive. Add a printed scarf, a pearl brooch or a belt at the waist. A long cardigan over a kurta set gives coverage and shape. Keep the sleeves to the wrist and the hem to the ankle if you want a modest look. Colour does the festive part. Use a bright hijab or dupatta with a neutral outfit.

Jewellery and hair

One-line note: chandbalis or jhumkas, a bangle stack and a neat bun or a styled hijab. Mehendi on the hands is the best jewellery of Chaand Raat.

Climate note

Eid dates move through the year. In summer, pick cotton, lawn and georgette. In winter, add a shawl or velvet dupatta. Humid cities need breathable fabrics. Skip heavy net layers in monsoon.

What to stop buying for Eid

Stop buying heavy sets with itchy lining. Stop buying all-synthetic net that clings. Stop buying shoes that you cannot sit in. Buy a good plain set and change the dupatta each day.

Questions

What colours are good for Eid?

Pastels, white, emerald, rose, teal and gold are common. Pick the shade that makes your face look bright and keep it fresh.

What do I wear for Eid prayer?

Wear a modest long kurta or abaya in a light colour. Cover your head if that is your practice.

What can I wear for Chaand Raat?

A light kurta set or sharara that you can wear while shopping for bangles and mehendi. Keep shoes flat.

How much should I spend on an Eid outfit?

A good set costs between ₹2,000 and ₹6,000. Under ₹2,000 works with a solid cotton set and an accessory.
